Experience Route 66: A Deep Imagining at Blue Sky Coworking
As communities across the country celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, there's no better place to reflect on the Mother Road's enduring legacy than in Albuquerque's Nob Hill. Home to one of the most recognizable stretches of Historic Route 66, Nob Hill has long been a place where travelers, artists, entrepreneurs, and neighbors come together. Its vibrant mix of historic architecture, locally owned businesses, public art, and creative energy makes it the perfect setting for Route 66: A Deep Imagining, now on view at Blue Sky Coworking.
Presented in partnership with Harwood Art Center, the exhibition features the work of SURFACE alumni Christian Gallegos, Ben Roe Jr., and Jen H. Doolittle. Together, their work explores the many stories connected to Route 66—from the landscapes that existed before the highway to the people, memories, and moments that continue to shape its legacy today. Rather than looking only at the road itself, the exhibition invites us to imagine the lives, histories, and futures that have unfolded alongside it.
We hope you'll join us throughout the exhibition's run, beginning with our Opening Reception on Friday, July 24, from 4:30–6:30 PM. Celebrate the launch of the exhibition, connect with fellow art lovers, and experience the work in one of Nob Hill's newest gallery spaces.
Looking for a deeper understanding of the exhibition? On Thursday, August 20 at 4:00 PM, we're hosting a Curator Walkthrough. This RSVP-only event offers insight into the exhibition's themes, the artists' approaches, and the stories that inspired the work, creating a richer experience for visitors.
The exhibition concludes with a Closing Reception on Saturday, October 10, from 4:30–6:00 PM, followed by Artists in Dialogue at 5:00 PM. Hear directly from Christian Gallegos, Ben Roe Jr., and Jen H. Doolittle as they discuss their creative practices, the ideas behind their work, and what Route 66 means through the lens of contemporary New Mexico art.
At Blue Sky Coworking, we believe that art thrives where people gather. By bringing exhibitions like Route 66: A Deep Imagining into an active coworking community, we're creating opportunities for creativity, conversation, and connection to happen every day—not just inside traditional galleries.
Whether you're exploring Historic Route 66 for the first time, rediscovering Nob Hill during the centennial celebration, or simply looking for an inspiring afternoon, we invite you to stop by, experience the exhibition, and join us for one or more of these special events.
